The Fastener Kit (what you actually need)

For a standard 1.8 m (6 ft) table, the hardware that does the real work is short and specific:

• M12 × 90 mm hot-dip galvanized carriage bolts (equivalent to 1/2" × 3-1/2"), with washers and nuts — one per leg, connecting the legs to the tabletop supports. We recommend hot-dip galvanizing for outdoor corrosion resistance.

• 63 mm (2-1/2") self-tapping, countersinking exterior wood screws — for fixing the tabletop and bench slats.

• 90 mm (3-1/2") self-tapping, countersinking exterior wood screws — for the load-bearing supports and braces.

• Wood glue and exterior stain (optional) for finishing.

We supply all of the above as a matched BOM kit, so your assembly line or workshop never mixes the wrong screw with the wrong joint.

Timber sizes in European dimensions

The original plan calls out North American lumber. In metric (European C24 structural timber) the cut list looks like this for a 1.8 m table:

• Tabletop slats (4): 45 × 195 mm × 1800 mm (was 2×8)

• Bench slats (4): 45 × 145 mm × 1730 mm (was 2×6)

• Table legs (4): 45 × 195 mm × 940 mm (was 2×8)

• Bench supports (2): 45 × 145 mm × 1550 mm (was 2×6)

• Tabletop supports (3): 45 × 95 mm × 730 mm (was 2×4)

• Upper leg braces / angle braces: 45 × 95 mm, cut to length (was 2×4)

Three assembly points that decide whether it lasts

1. Legs: clamp each leg to the underside, then drive one M12 carriage bolt per leg through the support. Pre-drill the bolt hole to the shank diameter and torque every nut to the same setting — uneven torque is what makes a table rock.

1. Bench supports: fasten with M12 carriage bolts at 60° mitered ends; trim any protruding bolt with a grinder.

1. Angle braces: pilot-drill, then drive 63 mm countersinking screws so the brace sits flush against the center support.

Sand all surfaces before staining — it is easier to finish a smooth board than a rough one.

Corrosion rating — pick for your climate

Outdoor furniture lives or dies by its coating. For most of Europe, hot-dip galvanized carriage bolts and zinc-plated exterior screws are enough. For coastal or high-humidity regions, step up to A4 (316) stainless steel or our RUSPERT-coated bolts, both validated by salt-spray testing. Send us your climate and we will spec the grade.
